For Families

We know the NICU journey can be overwhelming.

You are not alone.

What to Expect in the NICU

Having a baby in the NICU is one of the most challenging experiences a family can face. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way, answer your questions, and ensure you feel informed and supported throughout your baby’s stay.

Your First Days

When your baby is admitted to the NICU, our team will walk you through what equipment is being used, why it is needed, and what your baby’s care plan looks like. We encourage you to ask questions and be as involved as you feel comfortable with.

Staying Involved

Parents are an essential part of the care team. You can participate in diaper changes, feedings, and skin-to-skin (kangaroo care) time as your baby’s condition allows. Studies show that parental involvement greatly supports newborn development and healing.

Communicating With Our Team

Our neonatologists and nurse practitioners conduct daily rounds and will keep you updated on your baby’s progress. We welcome your questions and want to ensure you always understand your baby’s condition and care plan.

Preparing for Discharge

As your baby approaches discharge, our team will prepare you with everything you need to care for your newborn at home. We provide education on feeding, medications, follow-up appointments, and warning signs to watch for.
